Glutathione is sometimes described as the body's master antioxidant, which is a marketing phrase built on a real fact: it participates in neutralizing oxidative stress and in the enzymatic pathways the liver uses to process and clear compounds. Patients who choose it are generally looking for antioxidant support as part of a broader wellness routine. That is how we position it, and it is as far as the evidence honestly goes.
We do not market glutathione for skin lightening or brightening. The FDA has not approved any injectable drug for skin whitening or lightening and considers injectable skin-lightening products unapproved and untested. It is the most common claim made about glutathione and the one we won't make. Glutathione is also not a treatment for any disease, and it is not a detox in the way the word gets used online — your liver and kidneys do that work, with or without it.
Injectable glutathione is not an FDA-approved drug. It is a compounded preparation prescribed off-label, which means the FDA has not reviewed it for quality, safety, or effectiveness. The FDA has specifically warned compounders not to use dietary-supplement-grade glutathione in injectables, because supplement-grade material can carry impurities and endotoxins that are harmful when injected. Your provider will review this with you before you decide, and will tell you where our preparation is compounded.
