Sculptra Aesthetic is an injectable poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA-SCA) collagen stimulator — the first and original of its kind. It is not a hyaluronic-acid filler. Instead of sitting beneath the skin to create immediate volume, its microparticles work gradually to revitalize the skin's structural foundation, smoothing wrinkles and improving overall skin quality.
Sculptra is a biostimulatory injectable: it helps stimulate your own natural collagen production to smooth facial wrinkles and improve skin tightness. Because collagen rebuilds over time, results appear gradually rather than all at once — which is why Sculptra is given as a series. Most patients receive two to three treatment sessions over the course of a few months, with a typical plan of three sessions spaced at least three to four weeks apart. Your exact plan is determined together with your provider.
Sculptra Aesthetic is FDA-approved for use in people with healthy immune systems for the correction of shallow to deep nasolabial fold contour deficiencies, fine lines and wrinkles in the cheek region, and other facial wrinkles. Commonly treated areas include the cheeks, smile lines, and marionette lines. Because of its unique injection requirements, Sculptra is not used in the lips or the delicate area around the eyes.
Sculptra rewards patience. Many patients begin to see results as early as one month after treatment, with sustained results for up to two years as collagen continues to build across your series. Downtime is minimal — if there are no complications, makeup may be applied several hours after treatment. As with any injectable, common temporary effects can include swelling, tenderness, redness, bruising, or small bumps at the injection sites. Because Sculptra has unique injection requirements, it should only be performed by a trained healthcare practitioner — at Vue, under Dr. Swenson's direction.

Sculptra is a poly-L-lactic acid collagen stimulator — it prompts your body to rebuild its own collagen gradually, so results develop over a series of sessions and look natural as they emerge. For immediate volume, hyaluronic-acid fillers may be the better fit; many patients use them alongside Sculptra.
