SkinPen Microneedling

The first FDA-cleared microneedling device — SkinPen stimulates your skin's natural collagen to soften scars, fine lines, and uneven texture with little to no downtime.

SkinPen Microneedling

SkinPen is the first FDA-cleared microneedling device, designed to trigger your skin's own repair process for smoother, firmer, more even-toned skin — without lasers, heat, or significant downtime.

What is SkinPen microneedling?

SkinPen uses a cluster of fine, sterile micro-needles to create thousands of precise micro-channels in the skin. Your body treats these as signals to heal, flooding the area with fresh collagen and elastin. This is known as collagen-induction therapy, and it's what gradually firms the skin and refines its surface. Every treatment uses a single-use, sealed cartridge and adjustable needle depth, so the session is tailored to your skin and the area being treated.

Made by Crown Aesthetics, SkinPen Precision was the first microneedling device to earn FDA clearance — originally for improving the appearance of facial acne scars in adults 22 and older, and later for the appearance of neck wrinkles. It's a genuinely medical device, not a spa roller, which is part of why the results are consistent and the safety profile is well established.

What SkinPen treats

  • Acne scars and post-acne marks
  • Fine lines and early wrinkles
  • Enlarged or congested pores
  • Rough or uneven texture
  • Dull tone and mild sun damage
  • Stretch marks (on the body)

Because SkinPen is purely mechanical — no light or heat — it carries less risk of pigment change on deeper complexions than light- or heat-based treatments. Your provider will review your skin and confirm it's the right choice for you.

What to expect

Your visit starts with a quick consultation and a thorough cleanse, followed by a topical numbing cream so you stay comfortable. The treatment itself takes about 20–30 minutes, and we finish with a soothing serum or calming mask. Most people notice redness similar to a light sunburn for 24–48 hours afterward.

Add a PRP or PRF boost

SkinPen pairs beautifully with your own platelet-rich plasma or fibrin (PRP/PRF). We draw a small sample of your blood, concentrate its growth factors, and apply them to the freshly micro-channeled skin to amplify collagen stimulation and support healing. PRP for aesthetics is autologous (it uses your own blood) and clinically supported, though it is not itself FDA-cleared for this use. Ask your provider whether adding it is right for your goals — and if PRP is something you're exploring for hair as well, see our PRP scalp therapy.

Results and downtime

Many clients see a fresh glow within the first week, but the real work happens beneath the surface — collagen remodeling continues to build over the following four to six weeks. For acne scarring and texture, we typically recommend a series of three sessions spaced about a month apart. Downtime is minimal, and most people return to normal activities the next day.

Pricing

Face $350 · Neck $300 · Chest $300 · Series of three (face) $950. Approximately a 60-minute visit, with about four to six weeks between sessions. A PRP/PRF add-on and member pricing are available. Your plan is confirmed at your consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does SkinPen microneedling hurt?

Most clients describe it as very tolerable. We apply a topical numbing cream before we begin, so you will typically feel light pressure and vibration rather than pain.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on your goals. A single session refreshes tone and glow, while acne scarring and texture usually respond best to a series of three treatments spaced about four weeks apart.

Should I choose SkinPen or Morpheus8?

SkinPen is mechanical microneedling, best for surface concerns — texture, acne scars, pores, and tone. Morpheus8 adds radiofrequency heat and reaches deeper, so it's better for firming and remodeling — laxity, deeper lines, and definition along the jawline and neck. Many clients start with SkinPen and add or alternate Morpheus8 as their goals evolve; we'll help you choose at your consultation.

What is the downtime?

Plan on redness similar to a mild sunburn for 24–48 hours. Most people return to work and normal activities the next day and can wear mineral makeup after 24 hours.

When will I see results?

You will often notice a glow within a week, but collagen continues to rebuild over four to six weeks. Results build with each session in a series.

Can SkinPen be combined with other treatments?

Yes. SkinPen pairs well with PRP for added collagen stimulation, and many clients alternate it with Morpheus8 for deeper remodeling. We will map the right combination during your consultation.
